CBA Business Pitch Competition Highlights Student Innovation and Entrepreneurial Spirit

With the students from the Entrepreneurship class of Ms. Khea Joy H. Botes and the Panel of Judges, headed by the Dean of the College of Business Administration, Dr. Cherrie Mae M. Manuel.

The College of Business Administration (CBA) of Baguio Central University (BCU) proudly concluded its much-anticipated Business Pitch Competition on April 4, 2025, held at Room 602, Bonifacio Main Campus. With the theme “Blueprint to Success: Transforming Ideas into Opportunity,” the event served as a culminating activity for students enrolled in the Entrepreneurial Management subject. It aimed to cultivate innovation, creativity, and business acumen through experiential learning.

 

The competition brought together four dynamic student teams, each presenting their original and compelling business ideas before a panel of esteemed judges, faculty members, and fellow students. Demonsytrating an impressive blend of theory and practical appplication, the participants introduced concepts that addressed real market demands and emerging consumer trends.

The featured business ideas included:

  • “Bitter Bites” – a bold, health-forward snack brand promoting nutritious indulgence;
  • “Pickled Pop Chayote” – a gourmet twist on a local vegetable, transforming chayote into a unique pickled delicacy;
  • “Bukobomb” – a sustainable, coconut-based refreshment geared toward eco-conscious consumers;
  • “Kumpanyeros Basi Ice Cream” – an innovative dessert combining traditional Basi wine with creamy ice cream for a fusion of flavor and culture.

The panel of judges brought credibility and depth to the event:

  • Cherrie Mae M. Manuel, CFMP, CRS, Dean of the College of Business Administration;
  • Marga L. Taganas, CPA, MBA, program coordinator of the College of Business Administration; and
  • Donna Fe N. Amseden, the external panel, entrepreneur and real estate agent.

 

Each pitch was evaluated based on creativity, feasibility, market potential, and presentation quality. The judges also offered thoughtful feedback, empowering students with insights to refine and elevate their ideas further.

At the end of the event, recognitions were awarded to the different groups of presenters.

 

Dr. Cherrie Mae M. Manuel delivered her closing remarks, commending the participants for their ingenuity and entrepreneurial drive. She emphasized that the event was more than just an academic requirement – it was a meaningful exercise in developing real-world competence. “This platform nurtures future entrepreneurs who have the courage to innovate and the passion to make a difference in society,” she noted.

 

The program concluded with a photo opportunity featuring the organizers, student presenters, faculty, and judges – a moment that captured the pride, camaraderie, and sense of accomplishment shared by all.

 

The success of the Business Pitch Competition reinforces BCU CBA’s dedication to experiential learning, innovation, and holistic student development. It inspired students to think critically, collaborate effectively, and pursue their business visions with confidence and purpose. As the event came to a close, it left a lasting impression of what it truly means to transform ideas into opportunity – laying the foundation for the next generation of bold and visionary business leaders.
