The College of Teacher Education and Liberal Arts (CTELA) conducted an enhancement seminar last October 8 at the Baguio Central University Function Hall.

After two years without face-to-face activities due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the CTELA hosted an in-person seminar with the theme “Sustaining Teacher’s Capability that Encompasses Teaching Profession Grounding”.

According to Dr. Michael Sebullen, one of the facilitators, the seminar aims to provide the students with another platform for learning since they are so fixated on online and different classroom activities.

In conformity to what Dr. Sebullen has said, the 192 participants from CTELA and the College of Nursing were subjected to simultaneous training and lecture. There were five topics discussed by four speakers, respectively.        In the lecture proper, the Presidential Decree no. 1006, “Providing the Professionalization of Teachers, Regulating their Practices in the Philippines” was lectured by Dr. Roben S. Jaco. The succeeding topics, “Magna Carta for Public School Teachers” and “Code of Ethical and Professional Standards for Professional Teachers” was lectured by Mr. Rabert Lorenzo. Also, a lecture on the “Gender sensitive Teaching and Learning” was dicussed by Mr. Alberto Cuillan. Finally, the topic discoursed by Ms. Rita Matias was regarding the “Safe Space Learning Environment”.

The awarding of certificates to the facilitators and lecturers was given, by the director of the Students Affairs Office, Mrs. Jamaica D. Simon, following the finality of the program.
