Strengthening Faculty and Student Well-Being: BCU’s Seminar Focuses on Resilience and Healthy Relationships

The faculty and student wellness seminar titled “Strengthening Faculty and Student Well-Being: Stress, Resilience, and Healthy Connections,” successfully concluded through the initiatives of the College of Business Administration in partnership with the College of Teacher Education and Liberal Arts Artletics Club. The seminar was conducted on September 29, 2025 from 1:00 to 5:00 in the afternoon at the Margarita Fernandez Hall and was attended by faculty members and students.

The wellness seminar aims to address the growing need for mental, emotional, and social support within the academic community. Dr. Lowell A. Rebucal, a psychiatrist at Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center and a faculty of Saint Luis University, discussed on what is stress, causes stress for faculty and students based on researches, how to manage stress, emotional well-being, and burnout prevention. On the other hand, Ms. Shelby K. Anos, Population Officer III of the City Health Services Office, talked about building healthy relationships and strong connections, HIV awareness, and the importance of self-care. Beyond providing knowledge, the seminar emphasizes the value of resilience, healthy relationships, and as both speakers emphasized, the importance of setting boundaries as part of protecting one’s well-being.

Moreover, participants of the event wore yellow, a color symbolizing hope, compassion and solidarity in observance of Suicide Prevention Month. In line with BCU’s commitment to sustainability and reducing waste, they were also encouraged to bring their own mugs or tumblers. Free HIV testing was also conducted as part of the activity administered by representatives from the City Health and Services Office as part of their campaign for HIV awareness. This initiative provided a shared space of learning, reflection, and connection for both faculty members and students.
