Serving communities, advancing the Global Goals
From Purok 27 in Irisan to the uplands of Itogon, Atok and Mountain Province, BCU's colleges work with communities on health, livelihood, education and the environment. Every program is planned with its community and aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Extension that starts with the community
Community extension is one of BCU's three core functions, alongside instruction and research. It is how Education for All reaches families, schools and barangays beyond the campus.
BCU works through Project CBPP, a community-based participatory partnership: communities, service providers and the university plan programs together, each college brings its own expertise, and the results feed back into teaching and research.
Listen
Needs analysis, consultations and barangay profiling with the community before anything is planned.
Partner
Formal agreements with barangays, LGUs and fellow institutions, so the work lasts beyond one event.
Serve
Each college brings its own expertise: health care, business and livelihood skills, teaching, hospitality.
Learn and return
Research informs the next round of programs, and findings go back to the communities that took part.

C.U.B.E. Partnership
With Cordillera Career Development College, University of Baguio and Easter CollegeFour Baguio institutions signed a MOA with the LGU of Atok in 2025, profiled its barangays to guide interventions, and ran a mobile extension in 2026 that gave free medical and dental consultations to more than 400 clients.
Health missions
College of Nursing and School of MidwiferyNursing and midwifery students and faculty bring check-ups, health teaching and medicines to the IP community of Sitio Lusod in Tinongdan, the Balatoc Mines community, Kapangan and Abra, with Itogon's Liga ng mga Barangay as a partner.

Building Inclusive Network for Impact in Community Services · CBAThe College of Business Administration's extension project: financial literacy games for pupils at Liang Primary School in Loacan, and hands-on support for Irisan residents forming a cooperative.
Green Investment Project
College of Business Administration with Barangay LoacanStudents, faculty and barangay officials plant pine seedlings and return to ring-weed and care for them, turning a one-day planting into a long-term commitment.
Barangay Loacan partnership
MOA signed July 18, 2025BCU President Dr. Margarita Cecilda B. Rillera and Punong Barangay Hon. Franklin M. Almoza formalized a partnership for education, social programs and sustainable community development. BCU later returned to share its research findings with the barangay.
Eco Zone stewardship
With Barangay Middle Quezon HillA volunteer partnership in which BCU students and staff help care for the barangay's eco zone.
Graduate School outreach
Graduate School Community Extension, Dr. Jennifer T. Longchasen, coordinatorGraduate students, alumni and faculty carried gifts uphill to the learners of Talingguroy Elementary School, and the Graduate School extended financial assistance to a family in need.

Community-Based Participatory PartnershipBCU's participatory model of extension: communities and service providers plan programs with the university. It began with BCU's first community extension seminar for service providers in April 2023.
