In celebration of National Children’s Month, Baguio Central University’s College of Business Administration (BCU-CBA) conducted a meaningful community outreach at Liang Primary School in Loacan, Itogon on November 24, 2025. This event marked the official launch of Project BIN-I: Building Inclusive Network for Impact in Community Services.

The BCU delegates received a warm welcome from the pupils and teachers, followed by a lively program specially designed for the students. CBA students facilitated several interactive games focused on financial competencies, teaching the pupils to distinguish between wants and needs, understand the value of money, and recognize the equivalent value of everyday goods. The children expressed their gratitude through a heartfelt song, which inspired faculty members from BCU-CBA to perform a song of their own. The celebration further came alive as members of the barangay council led a spirited dance, inviting everyone to join in the fun.

CBA students facilitated few interactive games for the pupils.

Following this vibrant showcase of talent, the CBA team distributed gifts to the pupils, including dental kits, piggy banks, and school supplies. These early Christmas presents were graciously donated by students, faculty, alumni, partners, and other stakeholders. It serves as a symbol of hope to encourage the young learners to persevere and complete their education despite the challenges they face at such a young age. Situated in a remote area with limited transportation, Liang Primary School serves a small student body that often shares classrooms and conducts lessons in tents, where weather conditions can impact their comfort and learning.

Dr. Cherrie Mae M. Manuel, Dean of CBA led the distribution of dental kits and gifts to the pupils.

Motivated by a desire to make a positive impact, CBA chose Liang Primary School as the beneficiary for the first activity under Project BIN-I. This program is dedicated to strengthening the college’s commitment to social responsibility, community empowerment, and collaborative engagement. Inspired by the Kankanaey word “bin-i,” meaning seed, the project draws from the essence of a seed, symbolizing potential, growth, and transformation. Just as a seed holds the blueprint for a thriving plant, Project BIN-I embodies the latent power within communities and academic partnerships to cultivate impactful change. CBA’s Project BIN-I planted the first seed of resilience and hope in Liang Primary School, fostering partnerships that will help the school and its community overcome obstacles to thrive.

Representatives from Loacan Barangay Council led a dance joined by the pupils and delegates from BCU-CBA.

The delegates from BCU-CBA were composed of the faculty members, headed by their dean, students and CBA-SGO officers and alumni. They were joined by members of the barangay council of Loacan headed by their Punong Barangay, Hon. Franklin M. Almoza. By bringing together diverse stakeholders, this activity aims to promote shared learning, co-creation of interventions, and equitable access to resources. Moreover, through this initiative, the CBA reinforces experiential learning, leadership development, and value formation among students while addressing real needs in partner communities.
