Baguio City, September 19, 2024 – In a move to enhance its educational offerings, the College of Criminal Justice Education (CCJE) of Baguio Central University (BCU) conducted a benchmarking visit to the University of Baguio’s School of Criminal Justice and Public Safety (SCJPS) on Thursday.

The visit, which took place from 9:00 to 11:00 AM, was part of BCU’s ongoing efforts to improve the quality of education and training provided to its students. The SCJPS, known for its excellence in criminology education, served as an ideal model for the visiting team.

Leading the BCU delegation was Dr. Perfecto Lopez, Vice President for Administration, accompanied by Ms. Beca May Pidlao-Palitayan, OIC-Dean of CCJE, and faculty members Mr. Ernesto Bucalan, Jr., Ms. Princess Joy Moyaen, and Ms. Rowena Gagno.

The benchmarking exercise aimed to identify best practices and innovative approaches in curriculum design, teaching methodologies, and student development. Additionally, the BCU team sought to gain insights into the facilities and resources that contribute to SCJPS’s high-quality learning environment.

“This visit is crucial for our continuous improvement efforts,” said Ms. Pidlao-Palitayan. “We’re here to learn from the best and explore how we can enhance our own programs to better serve our students.”

The delegation also expressed interest in exploring potential opportunities for collaboration and knowledge exchange between the two institutions.

As centers of learning in Baguio City, both universities play significant roles in shaping the next generation of criminal justice professionals. This benchmarking initiative demonstrates BCU’s commitment to maintaining high standards in criminology education and its willingness to learn from peer institutions.

The outcomes of this visit are expected to inform future improvements in BCU’s criminal justice education program, ultimately benefiting students and contributing to the advancement of the field in the region.
