Cordillera Career Development College (CCDC) — November 29, 2025
Baguio Central University (BCU) took center stage at the CUBE 3rd Quarterly Meeting held at Cordillera Career Development College (CCDC), where the university’s strong leadership in research, quality assurance, and community partnership became a defining highlight of the consortium’s continuing work across the region. Represented by Dr. Michael T. Sebullen, Director for Research and one of the partners most active leaders, BCU showcased its major contributions to CUBE’s mission of elevating academic standards and promoting sustainable community development. Dr. Sebullen led the detailed review of the consortium’s MOA accomplishments—an engaging presentation that underscored how BCU’s initiatives have significantly propelled CUBE’s collective performance over the past year. This session were attended also by Dr. Perfecto M. Lopez (Vice President for Administration), Dr. Cherrie Mae M. Manuel (Dean of College of Business Administration), Engr. Lorelie S. Malit (Interim Quality Assurance Officer) and Mr. Karl Matthieu B. Rillera (Marketing Officer).
From research collaborations and faculty development sessions to community outreach programs, Dr. Sebullen emphasized that BCU remains steadfast in its commitment to quality, innovation, and service. He highlighted how BCU’s active participation in consortium-wide activities has helped strengthen institutional linkages, enrich academic programs, and uplift partner communities, particularly in the areas of education, governance, and responsive development work.
The meeting also featured updates from partner institutions, including the University of Baguio (UB), whose quality assurance and internationalization milestones—ISO 21001:2018 certification, audit achievements, and AUN-QA preparations—served as valuable benchmarks for the partnership. While these presentations offered important insights, it was BCU’s strategic leadership that shaped the direction of the business session and the consortium’s forward action.
During the community engagement segment, the consolidated needs of Atok’s eight barangays were presented, focusing on the request for comprehensive Barangay Profiling and Record Updating. Recognizing the importance of accurate data for effective governance, CUBE agreed to launch this major extension initiative in February 2026—with BCU committing full support as one of the lead institutions in implementing the activity.
BCU’s influential presence extended throughout the discussions, particularly in strengthening the consortium’s alignment with SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). Dr. Sebullen’s guidance and BCU’s consistent contributions embodied the university’s long-standing dedication to community-centered development, academic excellence, and the relentless pursuit of international standards.
The meeting closed with the proposal of a Teachers’ Congress led by UB RIECO, which CUBE is exploring as a collaborative undertaking—one that BCU is poised to actively support given its continuing involvement in academic innovations and sectoral capacity-building.
Through its leadership, participation, and unwavering commitment, Baguio Central University once again affirmed its role as a driving force within C.U.B.E.—advocating for higher education excellence, strengthening community partnerships, and advancing a shared vision for a more inclusive and globally aligned Cordillera education system.
BCU’s presence at the meeting stands as a testament to its core values: service, collaboration, and a firm belief that meaningful change begins with institutions that choose to lead.
