The CHTM department initiated a first-aid training on April 5 in the BCU Function Hall with the theme, “Lowering the Risks: through First Aid Training for Hospitality and Tourism Management Students.

This one-day Basic First Aid seminar equipped the CHTM students with the knowledge, practical skills & understanding required to provide appropriate first-aid treatment for injuries and sudden illness until medical professionals arrive to take over.

The “First Aid Training” seminar aims to address the critical needs by providing Hospitality and Tourism Management students with comprehensive training and creating safer environments among students and the workplace. This seminar focused on enhancing participants ‘awareness and readiness in case of emergency.

By providing basic First Aid Training students gained more confidence, readiness and preparedness in such situations that may arise within their respective premises. This activity empowered the CHTM students to respond effectively to medical emergencies, minimize the impact of injuries or illnesses, and ultimately save lives.

Moreover, the seminar incorporated interactive activities, practical exercises, and instructional strategies tailored to the needs of students for future employment. Participants had the opportunity to engage in hands-on practice sessions, receive personalized feedback, and explore proper techniques and confidence to provide immediate assistance in medical emergencies.

Moreover, he seminar offered valuable insights and hands-on experiences doing first aid, like Basic Life Support, where students demonstrated how to perform the principles of CPR, AED usage, and choking relief. Students also learned on how to properly clean and dress various types of wounds, perform fracture management, treat different kinds of burns, and respond properly to medical emergencies like heart attacks, strokes, and seizures.
