BAGUIO CITY, Philippines — February 13, 2026 — The College of Business Administration (CBA) of Baguio Central University (BCU) actively demonstrated its commitment to research excellence through the participation of its faculty members in the 4th International Research Colloquium organized by the University of Baguio through its Research Innovation Extension and Community Outreach (RIECO), in collaboration with Baguio Central University and partner academic institutions. The international hybrid event, held both onsite at the University of Baguio and online via Zoom, carried the theme “Sustainable Development Goals through Researchers’ Lens,” bringing together scholars, researchers, and academic leaders to share innovative research and foster academic collaboration.
Representing Baguio Central University during the onsite presentation was Dr. Cherrie Mae M. Manuel, Dean of the College of Business Administration and College Research Coordinator, who presented her dissertation titled “Business Risk Assessment of Baguio Central University.” Her research contributed valuable insights on institutional risk management, highlighting strategies that support organizational sustainability and informed decision-making in higher education institutions.
Participating virtually, Ms. Marga L. Taganas, BSBA Program Coordinator, presented their collaborative research titled “Integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Multipurpose Cooperatives: Challenges and Opportunities,” which examined the role of emerging technologies in improving operational efficiency and strengthening cooperative services. Likewise, Ms. Khea Joy H. Botes, BSPA OIC–Program Coordinator, presented her thesis titled “Credit Management Practices: Basis for Credit Policy,” which focused on strengthening financial management systems through improved credit evaluation and policy development.
The active participation of CBA faculty members in both onsite and online research presentations reflects the college’s strong commitment to advancing research productivity, professional development, and academic excellence. Their engagement provided opportunities to disseminate research findings, exchange knowledge with international scholars, and enhance their competencies in research and innovation.
Furthermore, this accomplishment supports the university’s research agenda and contributes to the attainment of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) by promoting research engagement and knowledge advancement among faculty; SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure) by supporting research in artificial intelligence, risk management, and financial systems; and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) by strengthening institutional collaboration through international research participation.
Overall, the participation of the College of Business Administration faculty in the 4th International Research Colloquium highlights the college’s continuing efforts to foster a strong research culture, enhance faculty research capability, and contribute meaningful scholarly work that supports institutional development and global academic engagement.
