14th University Research Colloquium: Charting Paths to Excellence in Research, Innovation, and Sustainable Growth

Participants and discussants celebrate the success of the 2 days 14th University Research Colloquium

The 14th University Research Colloquium, themed “Charting Paths to Excellence in Research, Innovation, and Sustainable Growth,” took place at the Margarita Joven Fernandez Hall on February 26 and 27, 2025. This year’s event marked a significant milestone, showcasing an unprecedented number of research submissions from across the university’s colleges, departments, and offices. The colloquium kicked off on February 26 from 1 PM to 5 PM, featuring the final presentations of eight research papers. These entries represented a diverse array of topics and disciplines, reflecting the innovative spirit and academic rigor of the university community. The following day, February 27, saw an expanded program from 8 AM to 5 PM, with 15 additional proposal research presentations, further highlighting the collaborative efforts of faculty and staff in advancing knowledge and sustainable practices.

 

In her keynote message, University President and Chair of the Board of Trustees, Dr. Margarita Cecilda B. Rillera, emphasized that through research, the university could future-proof itself to be ready for any circumstances. She noted that research serves as a bridge to internationalization, unlocking more opportunities for both learners and teachers. Her insights underscored the vital role of research in enhancing the university’s global standing and adaptability.

 

This year, the colloquium garnered participation from 62 teachers and non-teaching personnel, underscoring the university’s commitment to fostering a vibrant research culture. The event aimed to provide a platform for researchers to share their findings, engage in meaningful discussions, and explore potential collaborations that could lead to impactful innovations. The panel of evaluators for this year’s colloquium included esteemed figures in the academic community: Dr. Samuel K. Neyney, Dean of the College of Teacher Education and Liberal Arts (CTELA); Dr. Jennifer T. Longchasen, an instructor from the Graduate School and CTELA; Dr. Manion K. Alcantara, Engr. Criselda S. Felix and external panelists, Ms. Jessica W. Balag-ey, Director for Research and Extension at Easter College Inc. and Dr. Donavilla Marie B. Panday, the RIECO Director of University of Baguio.

Their expertise ensured a rigorous evaluation of the research presented, as well as provided valuable feedback to the participants. The 14th University Research Colloquium proved to be an inspiring event, showcasing the dedication and creativity of the university’s researchers. As the institution continued to chart paths toward excellence in research and innovation, this colloquium served as a testament to the collective efforts of its faculty and staff in promoting sustainable growth and development.
