The College of Business Administration of Baguio Central University actively participated in the University In-Service Training held on August 3 and 5, 2026, a two-day professional development program designed to strengthen the knowledge, skills, and capabilities of faculty members in response to the evolving demands of Education 5.0.
The first day of the training opened with Session 1: “Innovative Teaching Strategies in Education 5.0,” facilitated by Dr. Joselito C. Gutierrez, SLU Executive Assistant to the President. The session emphasized the importance of adapting teaching strategies to the changing educational landscape.
This was followed by Session 2: “Measuring Learning, Improving Teaching, Transforming Student Success,” which highlighted the relationship between effective assessment, improved teaching practices, and student achievement. The session reinforced the role of faculty members in using assessment results not only to measure student learning but also to identify areas for instructional improvement and provide meaningful support to learners.
The afternoon sessions placed greater emphasis on professionalism and workplace conduct. Dr. Cherrie Mae M. Manuel, Dean of the College of Business Administration, introduced the resource speaker for Session 3, highlighting the importance of professional standards and workplace conduct among educators.
Session 3: “Good Grooming and Conduct,” facilitated by Concepcion Manalili, HR Professional and PMAP representative, focused on proper professional appearance, workplace behavior, and conduct. The session emphasized that professionalism extends beyond technical competence and includes the way educators present themselves, communicate with others, and uphold the standards of their institution.
Following the session, Dr. Jolly B. Mariacos, introduced the fourth resource speaker, Dr. Joseph B. Quinto, Faculty of the College of Arts and Humanities, Benguet State University, who facilitated the session on “Social Media and Etiquette.”
The discussion addressed responsible and ethical social media use, emphasizing the importance of digital professionalism, appropriate online communication, and awareness of one’s digital presence. For educators and academic professionals, the session served as a timely reminder that professional responsibility also extends into digital spaces.
The first day concluded with a synthesis led by Ms. Marga Taganas, who helped consolidate the key insights and lessons from the day’s discussions. Her role underscored the CBA’s meaningful contribution to the success of the training program.
The second day focused on research, community engagement, and professional growth. Sessions on mastering the 7th edition research format and transforming faculty research productivity into global impact emphasized the importance of quality research and its contribution beyond the academe. Discussions on community extension highlighted the role of higher education in addressing community needs, while the final session on Professional Development of Teachers in Education 5.0 underscored the importance of adaptability, innovation, and continuous professional learning.
Through its active participation, the College of Business Administration reaffirmed its commitment to faculty development, research excellence, community engagement, and continuous improvement, strengthening its role in advancing quality and future-ready education.
