BCU conducts Buwan ng Wika 2022

With the theme “Filipino at mga Katutubong Wika: Kasangkapan sa Pagtuklas at Paglikha”, the Baguio Central University celebrated Buwan ng Wika on August 31 at the University’s Function Hall.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the said event was finally held in the presence of the students and teachers, after two consecutive years. This was formally opened by Mr. Darrel Kaugiran, the president of SANAGFIL, followed by the speech of Mr. Michael Sebullen, the program’s guest speaker.

The awarding of certificates to the winners of the different contests were awarded by Mrs. Arlene Mintas, a Filipino adviser, Dr. Samuel K. Neyney, the Dean of the College of Teacher Education and Liberal Arts, and Dr. Elma D. Donaal, the Vice President of Academic Affairs.

In the slogan making contest, Ms. Joyce Bogbog got the 1st place, Ms. Nikke Gamez got the 2nd place, and Ms. Joan Cabannag got the 3rd place. In the poster making contest, Ms. Mildred Mayion won the 1st place, Ms. Ana Muriel Yadao won the 2nd place, and Ms. Charmaine Guererro won the 3rd place. For the essay writing contest, Ms. Allyssa Jamon took the 1st place, Ms. Lanie Jane Lopez took the 2nd place, and Ms. Diane Rose Pama took the 3rd place. In the poem making contest, Ms. Lanie Jane Lopez got the 1st place, Mr. Alfredo L. Padel took the 2nd place and Ms. Janeth Cayandag got the 3rd place.

Afterward, the Bachelor of Secondary Education Major in Physical Education (BPED) students performed a dance presentation. Shortly after, the contest for the katutubong kasuotan took place whereas, Mr. Emmanuel Esteban and Sheena Mae Cayabas were recognized as the 1st placers, Mr. Steven Junel Ngis-Eban and Ms. Jahzell Krishna won the 2nd place, and Mr. Alfredo Padel and Ms. Mary Cris Lope won the 3rd place

The program was concluded with the closing remarks of Dr. Samuel K. Neyney, and a community cultural dance for everybody.
