The College of Business Administration (CBA) of Baguio Central University reaffirmed its commitment to research-driven community development through the dissemination of its institutional research titled, “Assessing Community Needs for Strategic Extension Program Planning: A Basis for the College of Business Administration Outreach Initiatives,” to its adopted community in Barangay Loacan, Itogon, Benguet.
The dissemination activity brought together members of the CBA faculty and barangay officials to present the key findings and recommendations of the study. During the program, the research results were formally shared with the local stakeholders, and an official copy of the completed research was turned over to the barangay to support evidence-based planning, informed decision-making, and future community development initiatives.
More than a presentation of research findings, the activity served as a platform for meaningful dialogue between the University and the local government. Guided by the identified community needs, CBA faculty members and barangay officials engaged in collaborative discussions on prospective extension programs and outreach activities that directly address the priorities and aspirations of the community. This participatory approach ensures that future extension initiatives are responsive, inclusive, and sustainable while creating lasting positive impacts on the lives of community members.
The institutional research highlights the College’s dedication to translating academic knowledge into practical solutions that benefit society. By integrating research with extension services, the College strengthens the connection between the University and its partner communities, ensuring that scholarly outputs contribute to real-world development and social transformation.
The dissemination also reinforces the importance of collaboration between higher education institutions and local government units in addressing community challenges through evidence-based interventions. Such partnerships promote shared responsibility in designing programs that enhance community well-being, build local capacity, and foster sustainable development.
This initiative reflects the University’s commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by advancing SDG 4 (Quality Education) through knowledge sharing, research dissemination, and capacity-building activities; supporting SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) by promoting community-driven planning and sustainable local development; and strengthening SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through collaborative engagement between the academe and local stakeholders.
Through research-informed extension programs and sustained community partnerships, the College of Business Administration continues to fulfill its mission of producing knowledge that creates meaningful impact, empowers communities, and contributes to inclusive and sustainable development.
