The Baguio Central University College Intramurals opened last October 15, 2019 at the University’s auditorium with the theme “Soaring high through excellence.”
The intramurals was opened by Mr. Perry A. Sacyafen, the Athletic director of the university.
In his message, he said “I call upon all of you to support one another in the spirit of sportsmanship and solidarity and develop whatever potentials you have”.
The competing departments are from the college of Business Administration, College of Criminal Justice Education, College of Hotel and Tourism Management, College of Nursing and Scholl of Midwifery, College of Engineering and the College of Teacher Education and Liberal Arts.
The guest speaker of the event was Dr. Lourdes Lomas-e, an Education Program Supervisor, she challenged the athletes by emphasizing the “Poverty is not a hindrance. Face or looks is not a hindrance instead stay focus to reach your goals despite of your struggles”.
Meanwhile, the symbolic urn was lighted by Raven Mar Razo, a Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSED) MAPEH major and at the same time a basketball varsity player, while Jurgena Behis, volleyball varsity player led the oath of sportsmanship.
Dr. Perfecto M. Lopez, vice President for Administration, formally opened the 2019 intramurals by unfurling the BCU banner.
The highlight of the event was the search for Miss Intramurals wherein the crown was bestowed to Miss Shantelle Buya, a freshman nursing student, followed by her entourage Miss Myra Ann Cabigat from the College of Hospitality and Tourism management was the 1sy runner-up and Mylene Bucasan from the College of Business Administration landed 2nd runner-up.
Special awards were also given to Ms. Winnie Fag-ayan. Ms. Kaycee Dyn Mabitazan, Ms. Myra Ann Cabigat and Ms. Faith Tolding.
The judges in the competition were composed of Mr. King George Bueno, Designer and Entrepreneur, Dr. Lourdes E. Lomas-e, Public and Private School District Supervisor, and Ms. Marissa Gumangan Mabalot-Bomogao, BCNHS Master Teacher II and the President of Kinda Lions Club.
