On February 25, 2026, the College of Business Administration of Baguio Central University represented by its BSBA program coordinator, Ms. Marga L. Taganas, extension coordinator, Dr. Jolly B. Mariacos, and SGO Governor, Ms. Jonalyn Geronimo, conducted a consultative meeting with the Purok 27 Leader, Mr. Faustino L. Jadormeo, and Purok 27 Secretary, Ms. Maribel Espada, at the Barangay Hall in Upper Irisan, Baguio City, to discuss priority community development initiatives. The consultation primarily focused on the proposed organization of the Barangay Purok 27 Cooperative.
Beyond the cooperative initiative, the consultative meeting also surfaced other priority concerns such as the improvement of the Barangay Hall to better support the Day Care Center, installation of flooring tiles, conduct of community mapping, placement of road signages for safety and organization, and coordination for the Women’s Group participation in upcoming activities. The discussions reflected a collective commitment between the university extension team and barangay stakeholders to collaboratively implement sustainable, community-driven programs.
This consultative engagement advances the Sustainable Development Goals by promoting inclusive economic growth (SDG, strengthening women’s participation in community leadership (SDG 5), supporting poverty reduction through cooperative enterprise (SDG 1), enhancing safe and sustainable communities (SGD 11), and reinforcing institutional partnerships (SDG 17). Through continuous dialogue and collaboration, the university and the barangay reaffirm their shared vision of empowering communities through participatory development and strategic action.
