BCU–CBA Faculty Review Action Plan and Prepare for the New Academic Year

by: Dr. Cherrie Mae M. Manuel

Baguio Central University’s College of Business Administration (CBA) held its faculty meeting on July 7, 2025, at the CBA Faculty Office. Led by Dean Dr. Cherrie Mae M. Manuel, the meeting reviewed the College’s previous accomplishments and preparations for Academic Year 2025–2026.

Participating faculty members were Ms. Khea Joy H. Botes, Mr. Junik Cris A. Calahi, Dr. Ma. Remedios O. Laroco, Dr. Jolly B. Mariacos, and Ms. Marga L. Taganas.

Dr. Manuel reviewed activities implemented during the previous academic year, including the Business Pitch Competition, Valley Bread plant tour, ring-weeding activity under the Green Investment Project, and Professional Internship Culminating Activity. The review also identified activities that had not proceeded, providing a basis for improving the next cycle of planning.

Copies of the proposed action plan and activity calendar were distributed for faculty feedback. Priorities included a faculty seminar-workshop on innovative teaching strategies, college and research orientation, financial wellness activities, student research presentations, and community extension.

The faculty were organized into two groups to develop research proposals. One group would work on a needs assessment for the College’s adopted community, while another would evaluate the BSBA curriculum from multiple stakeholder perspectives. The tracer study and research on students’ technological proficiency were also identified for future presentation.

The meeting finalized preparations for the outreach activity titled “Brand Smart: Design Your Business Identity.” Faculty members discussed workshop grouping, program responsibilities, logistical arrangements, and supporting documents.

Dr. Manuel reviewed updates to the simulation room and its manual. Faculty members were reminded to prepare syllabi using recent references, library books, electronic resources, and appropriate citation formats. The faculty also raised concerns about the proposed standardized class records, including the need for additional columns to record individual activities and laboratory work. Dr. Manuel noted these concerns for discussion at the next management meeting. The meeting gathered faculty recommendations on the action plan, assigned research teams, and clarified outreach and instructional preparations. Continued work would focus on refining planned activities, preparing research proposals, and completing teaching materials.

These efforts support SDG 4: Quality Education through collaborative academic planning, improved instructional preparation, and research aimed at understanding curriculum and community needs.
