Baguio Central University’s College of Business Administration celebrates the publication of “Cash Flow Management Practices of Vegetable Vendors in Baguio City” in the Multidisciplinary International Journal of Research and Development, Volume 4, Issue 6 (2025). The achievement highlights the students’ dedication to research that addresses the experiences and needs of local entrepreneurs.
The publication lists Marielle Kryzyl A. Datuin, Rodney Hally, Jane Nichole F. Estioco, Kyle Bryan L. Bulsao, Khali John Jess Aparejado, and Marga L. Taganas as its authors, all affiliated with BCU’s College of Business Administration.
Using a qualitative descriptive approach, the researchers interviewed five vegetable vendors in Barangay Magsaysay, Baguio City. They examined how vendors manage their cash flow, address financial challenges, and sustain their daily business operations.
The study identified unstable income, spoilage of unsold vegetables, and limited capital as challenges among the participants. Most relied on mental tracking rather than written financial records. To maintain their operations, vendors prioritized essential expenses, saved when possible, and used borrowing or consignment arrangements. The findings point to a need for practical financial literacy programs, accessible financing, and simple tools for managing cash flow.
Through this publication, the researchers have shared local business experiences with a wider audience. The College congratulates its student researchers and their co-author for this accomplishment and for bringing pride to Baguio Central University.
The research supports SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, particularly Target 8.3, by providing insights that can inform financial education and support for microenterprises.
