Baguio Central University (BCU) strengthened its commitment to community health and public service through its participation in the Health and Wellness Promotion held on February 2, 2026, at the St. Paul’s Academy of Sayangan Inc. Gymnasium in Atok, Benguet. Conducted under the C.U.B.E. Partnership Mobile Extension (M.E.), the initiative brought together Cordillera Career Development College (CCDC), the University of Baguio (UB), BCU, and Easter College Inc. (ECI) to improve access to healthcare services in the community.

The outreach program served more than 400 clients through free medical and dental services, including vital signs monitoring, blood sugar testing, urinalysis, blood typing, oral examinations, dental prophylaxis, tooth extractions, and fluoride application. Health promotion activities also emphasized proper hygiene, nutrition, and the importance of early disease detection, reinforcing the role of preventive healthcare in promoting community well-being.

BCU’s participation was spearheaded by the College of Nursing and School of Midwifery under the leadership of Dean Dr. Gina L. Casi, with the support of Extension Coordinator Mr. Allan P. Guinanghan and Clinical Coordinator Ms. Imelda B. Manuel. Faculty members and students collaborated with healthcare professionals, alumni, and representatives from partner institutions to facilitate service delivery. The activity also provided students with opportunities to apply their academic knowledge in practical settings while strengthening their clinical skills, communication, teamwork, and professional responsibility.

BCU expresses its appreciation to the university administration, led by Dr. Margarita Cecilda Rillera, for its continued support of community extension initiatives. Recognition is also extended to Ma’am Arlene Mintas, University Community Extension Coordinator and overall program coordinator, for her guidance in facilitating collaborative outreach efforts.

Through its involvement in the C.U.B.E. Partnership Mobile Extension, BCU continues to extend its educational mission beyond the campus by supporting community healthcare and fostering inter-institutional collaboration. The initiative aligns with Sustainable Development Goal 3: Good Health and Well-Being, through accessible medical and dental services and preventive health education, and Sustainable Development Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals, through cooperation among higher education institutions and healthcare stakeholders to address community needs.
