The visit provided an opportunity to assess the institution’s compliance with applicable regulatory standards and reaffirm its commitment to quality nursing and midwifery education, academic accountability, and continuous improvement.
The evaluation team included Dr. Merle L. Salvani and Dr. Josefina A. Tuazon, Members of the Board of Nursing; Dr. Evalyn E. Abalos, Member of the Technical Panel/Evaluator; Dr. Elizabeth H. Bautista of the CHED Regional Office–Cordillera Administrative Region (CHEDRO-CAR) Regional Quality Assurance Team; and Dr. Daisy R. Technical support was provided by Ms. Geneveive F. Gumiyao, PRC-CAR Representative; Ms. Ana Cristina T. Biglete, CHED-OPSD Representative; and Dr. Godfrey G. Mendoza, CHEDRO-CAR Representative. Their participation supported the conduct of the inspection and monitoring process and facilitated professional engagement between the regulatory representatives and the university.
In preparation for the visit, BCU’s dean, faculty members, staff, and students worked collaboratively to organize the required documents, prepare the venue, and coordinate the logistical arrangements. Their collective efforts contributed to the orderly conduct of the activity and demonstrated the importance of institutional cooperation in supporting external quality assurance. The visit also provided an opportunity for professional engagement concerning the standards and expectations governing nursing and midwifery education.
BCU expressed its sincere appreciation to the evaluators and technical support personnel for sharing their time, expertise, and professional insights. The university likewise recognized the contributions of its academic community, whose cooperation reflected a shared commitment to maintaining educational standards and strengthening institutional practices.
The inspection and monitoring visit underscored BCU’s continuing efforts to uphold regulatory compliance and promote the quality of its nursing and midwifery programs. While formal evaluation findings and any required follow-up actions remain subject to confirmation by the relevant authorities, the activity reinforced the importance of systematic assessment and ongoing program improvement in preparing competent and responsible health professionals.
Through initiatives that support accountability and quality assurance, Baguio Central University continues to emphasize the role of higher education in developing professional competence and responding to community needs. The activity aligns most directly with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4: Quality Education, through its emphasis on maintaining educational standards and promoting continuous improvement in professional learning. It also relates to SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being, as quality nursing and midwifery education contributes to preparing health professionals who can support safe, effective, and responsive health services.
Furthermore, the visit reflects aspects of SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, through collaboration between the university and national regulatory and quality assurance bodies. This engagement highlights the value of institutional partnerships in strengthening education standards and promoting accountability. It also has a relevant connection to SDG 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions, particularly through its focus on transparent evaluation, regulatory compliance, and institutional responsibility.
Through these efforts, BCU reaffirms its commitment to educational quality, professional excellence, and institutional improvement. By strengthening its quality assurance practices and working constructively with regulatory agencies, the university supports the broader goals of developing competent health professionals and advancing quality education in service of society.
