BCU College of Nursing and School of Midwifery Celebrates Newly Registered Nurses and Midwives Through Its 3rd Testimonial Program

By: Imelda B. Manuel & Jessie D. Dela Cruz, LPT

On December 15, 2025, Baguio Central University (BCU), through its College of Nursing and School of Midwifery, recently concluded its 3rd Testimonial Program for newly registered nurses (RNs) and registered midwives (RMs) at BCU-Magsaysay Auditorium. Spearheaded by the fourth-year (4B) students and Student Government Organizations (SGOs), the program celebrated the achievements, perseverance, and dedication of successful board examination passers. The activity provided an opportunity to recognize their journey toward professional registration while inspiring current students to pursue their academic and career goals with determination and confidence.

A highlight of the program was the inspirational message delivered by Ms. Mary Ann Tabangcura Andrada, an alumna of BCU who shared her professional achievements and the experiences that contributed to her success despite the challenges she encountered along the way. Her insights offered valuable lessons on resilience, perseverance, and the importance of remaining committed to one’s aspirations. Through her experiences, she encouraged students to view challenges as opportunities for growth and to remain steadfast in pursuing their chosen professions.

The testimonial program emphasized the determination and resilience demonstrated by the newly registered nurses and midwives throughout their academic journeys and preparation for professional licensure. Their stories of overcoming obstacles and achieving their goals served as a source of encouragement for Level IV nursing and midwifery students, as well as other attendees. By sharing their personal experiences, the new RNs and RMs demonstrated that success requires dedication, hard work, and the willingness to persevere through difficulties. The activity also strengthened the connection between aspiring healthcare professionals and those who have successfully taken the next step in their professional careers.

The successful conduct of the program reflects the commitment of the College of Nursing and School of Midwifery to fostering a supportive academic environment that recognizes achievement, promotes professional development, and inspires future healthcare practitioners. The initiative also highlights the leadership and organizational contributions of the fourth-year students and SGOs in facilitating meaningful academic activities that benefit the university community.

The program aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4: Quality Education, by promoting professional learning, sharing experiences, and motivating students to pursue academic and career excellence. It also supports SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being, as the development of competent and motivated nursing and midwifery professionals contributes to the future healthcare workforce. Furthermore, SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals is reflected in the collaboration among students, student organizations, the resource speaker, and the college in delivering an activity that promotes learning and professional growth.

As they embark on the next chapter of their careers, may they continue to uphold the values of compassion, integrity, excellence, and service in providing quality healthcare to the communities they will serve. BCU wishes all RNs and RMs success and blessings in their future endeavors.
