Baguio Central University College of Nursing and School of Midwifery, conducted a Medical Mission and Outreach Program on March 28, 2026, in Sitio Kiweng, Ambuklao, Bokod, Benguet. The initiative served 21 learners, parents, and community members, bringing essential healthcare services and educational assistance closer to the rural community.
In partnership with the Philippine Science National High School, through Ma’am Geraldine Orasing, and the Department of Education, through Ma’am Mayclaire Jimenez, the program offered free medical check-ups, health education sessions, mental health discussions, circumcision services, and the distribution of school supplies. Medical services were provided by Dra. Domanay Cabfit and Dr. Raymund Damoslog, with support from BCU faculty members, midwifery student volunteers, and Student Government Organization (SGO) officers.
The activity was supported by the BCU administration, led by President Dra. Margarita Cecilda Rillera, and University Community Extension Coordinator Ma’am Arlene Mintas. The College of Nursing and School of Midwifery leadership, faculty members, community extension coordinators, volunteers, and generous donors also contributed to the successful implementation of the mission.
Through this collaborative effort, BCU strengthened its commitment to community service by addressing healthcare needs, promoting health awareness, and supporting learners in geographically challenging areas. The initiative supports Sustainable Development Goal 3: Good Health and Well-Being, through accessible healthcare and health education; SDG 4: Quality Education, through the provision of school supplies; and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, through collaboration among the university, educational institutions, healthcare professionals, and community supporters.
