BCU–CBA Faculty Discuss Teaching Practices and Second-Semester Priorities

by: Dr. Cherrie Mae M. Manuel

The College of Business Administration (CBA) of Baguio Central University held its faculty meeting on January 20, 2025, at the sixth-floor CBA Faculty Room in Baguio City. Facilitated by OIC-Dean Ms. Marga L. Taganas, the meeting focused on classroom management, academic requirements, and preparations for second-semester activities.

Present were Ms. Khea Joy H. Botes, Mr. Junik Cris A. Calahi, Dr. Ma. Remedios O. Laroco, and Dr. Jolly B. Mariacos. The meeting provided an opportunity to coordinate faculty responsibilities and discuss ways to support students’ academic and extracurricular participation.

Ms. Taganas reminded faculty members to incorporate varied teaching strategies, including peer teaching and activities that encourage student participation. The discussion emphasized supplementing lectures and PowerPoint presentations with approaches that make classroom learning more engaging.

Faculty members were also reminded to complete their academic requirements, including item analyses, tables of specifications, and documentation of classroom activities. These reminders reinforced the importance of preparing and maintaining instructional records.

Preparations for Mr. and Ms. BCU and the University Intramurals formed another part of the discussion. Faculty members were asked to accommodate students participating in authorized practices and activities and to coordinate the timely submission of athlete profiles required by the Athletics Department.

The agenda also included the scheduled consultation on the proposed increase in tuition and other school fees. These discussions clarified administrative responsibilities and upcoming requirements for the semester.

The meeting supports SDG 4: Quality Education through its emphasis on varied teaching strategies, instructional preparation, and faculty coordination to support student learning.
