The College of Business Administration of Baguio Central University welcomed its students to the new academic term through its First Semester Student Orientation, held on August 13, 2026, via Zoom. The activity provided students with essential information on academic expectations, college programs, upcoming activities, institutional policies, research, and student support services as they began another academic year.
The program opened with the Welcome Remarks of Dr. Cherrie Mae M. Manuel, CBA Dean, who warmly welcomed the students and emphasized the importance of beginning the academic year with commitment, responsibility, and active participation. Her message encouraged students to take advantage of the opportunities available to them and to remain engaged members of the CBA community.
Following her welcome message, Dr. Manuel introduced the CBA faculty members and staff, allowing students to become acquainted with the individuals who will guide and support them throughout their academic journey. The introduction also highlighted the college’s commitment to maintaining a supportive and student-centered learning environment.
The orientation proceeded with a series of informative presentations facilitated by CBA faculty members, providing students with important information to help them navigate the academic year. Ms. Marga L. Taganas presented the CBA Vision, Mission, Goals, and Objectives, along with the programs offered and the grading system. Dr. Shamany L. Lokines highlighted the college’s activities and calendar of activities, giving students an overview of the engagements and opportunities prepared for the academic year. Meanwhile, Dr. Jolly B. Mariacos presented the CBA facilities and laboratories and introduced the college’s extension initiatives, including Project KABALIKAT. Ms. Paula Falisong, on the other hand, discussed the CBA uniform and school policies, as well as Disaster Risk Management. Through these presentations, students gained a clearer understanding of the college’s academic direction, available resources, planned activities, institutional policies, and their responsibilities as members of the CBA community.
A key part of the program was the Student Research Orientation, facilitated by Dr. Michael T. Sebullen, University Research Director. The session provided students with essential information on research and emphasized the importance of responsible and academically sound research practices. It also encouraged students to view research as an opportunity to develop critical thinking, inquiry, and meaningful contributions to their respective fields.
The activity concluded with the Closing Remarks, bringing together the key messages and information presented throughout the program. Despite being conducted virtually, the orientation successfully connected the CBA community and provided students with a comprehensive overview of the academic year ahead.
The CBA First Semester Student Orientation served not only as an avenue for disseminating important information but also as an opportunity to strengthen communication and engagement between the college and its students. Through the presentations, discussions, and virtual interactions, students were equipped with greater awareness of their academic responsibilities, available opportunities, institutional policies, and the programs and initiatives of the college.
