BCU-CCJE Community Extends Death Aid to the Family of Former Student

By Lara Nicole G. Antonio, SGO Secretary

February 6, 2026-In a heartfelt demonstration of compassion, unity, and solidarity, the Baguio Central University – College of Criminal Justice Education community successfully turned over the collected death aid to the bereaved family of Midn. 3CL John Martin Bacgalang, a former student of BCU-CCJE.

Spearheaded by the BCU-CCJE Student Government Organization (SGO), the initiative reflected the community’s commitment to supporting those experiencing grief and loss. Through students’ collective generosity, the organization raised a humble contribution to the family during this difficult time.

BCU-CCJE SGO Adviser Ms. Laura Stephanie E. Gulla formally entrusted the collected amount to the deceased’s elder sister, Ms. Jirah Mae B. Bacgalang. The turnover served as a meaningful gesture of sympathy, support, and remembrance, demonstrating that the bond between the university and its students extends beyond the classroom.

More than financial assistance, this initiative showed the power of collective kindness and the importance of standing together in times of hardship. Students’ willingness to share what they could demonstrated the values of empathy, generosity, and social responsibility that the BCU-CCJE community continues to uphold.

This initiative also supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3: Good Health and Well-Being, particularly its broader commitment to promoting well-being and supporting individuals and communities during difficult circumstances.
