Baguio Central University’s College of Criminal Justice Education (BCU-CCJE), represented by its Crime Laboratory Custodian, Ms. Jvee B. Ling-o, participated in the Third Quarter Committee Meeting of the Baguio City Anti-Mosquito Borne Diseases Committee (BCABDC) on October 9, 2026, at Hotel Tugos along Naguilian Road, Baguio City. The meeting brought together 30 participants representing government agencies, educational institutions, health services, law enforcement offices, and community organizations to discuss dengue and chikungunya surveillance data and strengthen local prevention and control efforts.
The meeting featured a presentation by Mr. Alexander Baday of the Department of Health–Cordillera Administrative Region (DOH-CAR), covering regional and city-level disease surveillance. Participants also reviewed the committee’s accomplishments for 2025–2026 and discussed ongoing and proposed initiatives, including larval surveillance, enforcement activities, geotagging of dengue cases, and community-based mosquito control measures. The discussions underscored the importance of coordinated efforts among health authorities, barangay volunteers, law enforcement agencies, and academic institutions in identifying disease hotspots and supporting preventive interventions.
The meeting provided an opportunity for participating institutions to review current efforts, identify priority areas, and strengthen coordination in addressing mosquito-borne diseases. BCU-CCJE’s participation reflects the College’s engagement in inter-agency initiatives that support community welfare and local public health objectives.
The activity aligns with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3: Good Health and Well-Being, through its focus on disease surveillance and prevention; SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, by supporting community-based disease prevention efforts; and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, through collaboration among government agencies, academic institutions, and community organizations.
