Baguio Central University (BCU) Civil Engineering (CE) and Geodetic Engineering (GE) students explored modern engineering innovations during the seminar titled “Emerging Technologies in Engineering: A Seminar for CE and GE Students,” held on March 10, 2026, at the 6th Floor, Function Hall, BCU Main Campus. The activity was organized by the Geodetic Engineering Student Association and hosted by Alpha Geomatics PH.
The seminar was attended by all Geodetic Engineering students and third- to fourth-year Civil Engineering students. It aimed to introduce emerging technologies used in both fields, enhance students’ understanding of modern engineering tools and methods, and encourage future engineers to adopt innovative and sustainable solutions in their professional practice.
Throughout the seminar, participants gained insights into current technologies, tools, and innovations utilized in the engineering industry. The discussions emphasized the importance of adapting to technological advancements and integrating modern solutions into engineering practices to address evolving professional demands.
The activity provided students with a broader understanding of emerging industry trends and the growing role of technology in shaping the future of Civil and Geodetic Engineering. It also encouraged participants to remain open to innovation, strengthen their technical knowledge, and pursue continuous learning as they prepare for their future careers.
Through this initiative, the PICE–BCU Student Chapter reinforced its commitment to providing meaningful learning opportunities that connect academic knowledge with industry developments and prepare students for the changing landscape of engineering.
SDG 4: Quality Education — Target 4.4. This target focuses on increasing the number of youth and adults with relevant technical and professional skills for employment and decent work. The seminar supported this goal by exposing students to modern engineering technologies, strengthening their awareness of industry practices, and encouraging the development of skills relevant to their future professions.
