The Junior Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers (PICE) – Baguio Central University Student Chapter successfully conducted the JPICE Bridge Building Competition on March 12, 2026, at the 6th Floor, Function Hall, BCU Main Campus, under the supervision of Engr. John Danes Rullan. The activity brought together Civil and Geodetic Engineering students to demonstrate their technical knowledge, creativity, and teamwork.
The competition provided participants with an opportunity to apply theoretical concepts in structural engineering through the design and construction of model bridges. By transforming classroom knowledge into practical applications, students demonstrated ingenuity, problem-solving abilities, and an understanding of structural design while working to meet the competition’s requirements.
Beyond technical skills, the activity encouraged collaboration, innovation, and healthy competition within the engineering community. It also served as a platform for students to strengthen their engineering competencies and prepare for future professional challenges as aspiring Civil and Geodetic Engineers.
Through initiatives like this, the PICE–BCU Student Chapter continues to support practical learning and academic engagement, encouraging students to develop the knowledge and skills needed to contribute to the engineering field.

The activity supports Target 4.4 by providing students with practical learning opportunities that help develop relevant technical and problem-solving skills. Through bridge design and construction, participants were able to connect theoretical lessons with hands-on engineering applications.
