BCU College of Business Administration Explores Partnership Opportunities with BSP

The College of Business Administration of Baguio Central University (BCU) strengthened its efforts to enhance its academic programs through industry engagement following a consultation and inquiry with the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Northern Luzon Regional Office on July 3, 2026.

CBA’s program coordinators with Mr. Jim Ian A. Bautista, Senior Research Specialist of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas.

Representing BCU were Ms. Marga L. Taganas, BSBA Program Coordinator, and Ms. Khea Joy H. Botes, BSPA-OIC Program Coordinator, who met with Mr. Jim Ian A. Bautista, Senior Research Specialist of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, to discuss possible areas of collaboration between the university and the central bank.

The consultation was part of the College of Business Administration’s initiative to strengthen its curriculum by involving industry stakeholders. The BCU representatives inquired about potential opportunities for collaboration, mentorship, and student immersion, which could provide students with practical exposure and industry-based learning experiences. They also sought information on the usual processes and terms of reference for BSP-school collaborations, including BSP activities in which the university may participate. The discussion likewise covered the procedure for inviting BSP representatives as resource speakers for student seminars and community extension programs.

During the consultation, Mr. Bautista provided the BCU representatives with a copy of BSP’s covered educational materials and gave an overview of the usual process followed when the BSP enters into partnerships with academic institutions. The possibility of a comprehensive evaluation of the college’s curriculum and syllabi was also discussed. Mr. Bautista recommended that the documents be submitted through email for his initial assessment. Following the review, he may endorse the materials to qualified BSP personnel for further evaluation or arrange a separate consultation at a later date, if necessary.

The consultation underscores BCU’s continuing commitment to developing industry-responsive academic programs. By establishing linkages with institutions such as the BSP, the College of Business Administration seeks to bridge classroom learning with professional practice while creating opportunities for students to gain relevant knowledge, skills, and firsthand industry exposure.

The initiative primarily aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4: Quality Education and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals. It supports SDG Target 4.4, which calls for increasing the number of youth and adults with relevant skills for employment, decent work, and entrepreneurship, and SDG Target 4.7, which promotes the integration of knowledge and skills for sustainable development into education and curricula. It also advances SDG Target 17.16, which emphasizes multi-stakeholder partnerships that mobilize and share knowledge and expertise, and SDG Target 17.17, which encourages effective public, public-private, and civil society partnerships.
