BCU TRIUMPHS AT WURI 2024! TOP CONTENDER IN THREE CATEGORIES

Baguio Central University (BCU) shines and clinches 4th, 17th, and 25th place finishes in three categories respectively (Symbol/Promotion, Crisis Management, and Social Responsibility) at the World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI) 2024! It has etched its name in global innovation history. This achievement, announced at the WURI Conference 2024 held in Lugano, Switzerland, places BCU among the innovative universities in the world. The Institute for Policy and Strategy on National Competitiveness hosted the World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI) Conference 2024, which assessed the level of innovation at the world’s leading and innovative universities, on June 6-7, 2024. The conference, held in conjunction with the 4th Hanseatic League of Universities (HLU) Conference at Franklin University Switzerland in Lugano, Switzerland, was simultaneously joined online via Zoom and in person.

This is a momentous occasion, not just for BCU, but for the entire Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), Philippine academic landscape.  This first-time participation for BCU resulted in all three submitted entries ranking within the top 25 – a testament to the university’s dedication to fostering innovation across various fields.

BCU’s exceptional performance shines brightly in specific categories:

Project EAGLE, submitted under B4. Symbol/Promotion, garnered a remarkable 4th place worldwide and 1st in the Philippines! This ranking highlights BCU’s commitment to fostering global excellence and growth through its ongoing service to the Philippine nation and beyond.

Project MARGARITA, submitted for A5. Crisis Management, achieved 17th place worldwide and 5th in the Philippines. BCU’s expertise in navigating challenges positions it as a leader in crisis preparedness and response.

Project AGSHAN, presented for A6. Social Responsibility, secured a well-deserved 25th place worldwide and 10th in the Philippines. This demonstrates BCU’s dedication to fulfilling its social responsibility through its CES program.

This triumph is a collective victory, resulting from the tireless efforts of BCU’s dedicated team, including the President, Board of Trustees, Vice Presidents, Deans, Heads of Offices, Coordinators, and Faculty. Dr. Genevieve B. Kupang’s leadership in the Symbol/Promotion category secured a Top 4 placement, while Dr. Gina Casi and Dr. Michael Sebullen’s expertise propelled BCU’s entries in Crisis Management (#17) and Social Responsibility (#25).

This achievement marks a significant milestone for BCU. Building on its initial global recognition in WURI 2023, BCU has solidified its position as a frontrunner in global innovation. BCU’s performance in WURI 2024 highlights its unwavering commitment to excellence in education, research, and societal engagement.
