CCJE Conducts Surprise Inspection to Instill Discipline and Professionalism

By Lara Nicole G. Antonio

“Nothing is more harmful to the service, than the neglect of discipline; for that discipline, more than numbers, gives one army superiority over another.” — George Washington

The Baguio Central University College of Criminal Justice Education thru the Student Government Organization, conducted a surprise inspection on February 3, 2026, reinforcing grooming standards, discipline, and professional conduct among criminology students. The initiative is part of the college’s continued efforts to prepare students for careers in law enforcement and public service.

The inspection was lead by the CCJE SGO under Governor Jay D. Padilla, with guidance from SGO Adviser Ms. Laura Stephanie E. Gulla and support from on-duty criminology interns. Oversight was provided by OIC Dean Beca May Pidlao-Palitayan, who emphasized the importance of discipline in forming principled and professional future public servants.

“Discipline is not punishment, but preparation in the real mccoy,” Dean Pidlao-Palitayan said, highlighting the initiative’s role in cultivating accountability and ethical behavior among students for the future law enforcement.

Operation KULTAP: Enforcing Grooming Standards

As part of the activity, Operation KULTAP (Kumilos Upang Labanan ang Talamak na Paglabag) targeted male students whose hair exceeded the prescribed 2×3 standard. Non-compliant students underwent immediate corrective action, while female students were reminded to neatly tie their hair in a bun in accordance with college regulations.

Faculty members noted that the surprise inspection served as a formative exercise, helping students apply classroom principles to real-world professional habits. The initiative also reinforced core values such as self-discipline, integrity, and respect for rules—qualities essential for future law enforcement officers.

The inspection supports the UN SDGs particularly SDG 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions – promoting ethical, accountable leadership and SDG 4: Quality Education – fostering holistic student development that includes personal growth and professional conduct. The activity reaffirms CCJE’s commitment to producing graduates who are not only academically competent but also morally prepared to serve the public.
