
Hon. Edwin O. Atumpag, Liga ng mga Barangay Itogon Chapter President in his recent letter to Baguio Central University stated “in behalf of all the Punong Barangay’s of Itogon expressed their deepest gratitude and appreciation on the successful Medical Misssions of the College of Nursing and Midwifery last June 8, 2024 at Barangay Virac, Sitio Balatoc and June 12, 2024 at Barangay Tinongdan, Sitio Lusod, Itogon, Benguet.
The President further added, “…. the dedication and commitment in providing quality healthcare services have significantly impacted the lives of many individuals in our community and that the comprehensive medical services, including consultations, treatments and educational sessions, have not only addressed immediate health concerns but also have fostered a greater sense of health awareness and well-being among our residents. The professionalism and compassion demonstrated by your medical team were truly commendable, and we are immensely grateful for your support and efforts.

This has brought the College of Nursing and School of Midwifery’s faculty and student nurses to be once again, be a partner on another Medical Mission last June 30, 2024 at Sitio Malasin, Ucab, Itogon, Benguet, in which they have provide their expertise and skills on circumcision procedures.
During the short program, the Hon. Edwin O. Atumpag, gave a brief background on how the CONSOM’s medical mission have enlightened the Liga ng mga Barangay’s of Itogon the importance of health care services and giving back to indigent communities. He also expressed the plans of extending future medical missions not only in Itogon but to other municipalities of Benguet with the help of its partners.

Present on the medical mission were other partners – Technical Support Company, Regional Mobile Force Battalion 15 of the Philippine National Police headed by PCpt Robert N. Andaca Jr., Officer-in-charge who thank the Liga ng mga Barangay’ of Itogon for the invitation and BCU-College of Nursing and School of Midwifery for their unwavering service. His men later gave free haircuts to the young clients for the minor surgery which was led by no other than Social Media Influencer PSSg Edmund “Sager” Wakit.
Dr. Geraldine S. Orasing – Philippine Science High School of the Department of Science and Technology-CAR gave a lecture on the importance of mental health awareness within the family and later on gave one on one counseling to some of the kids and parents.
Dr. Marie Jorelyn P. Bahingawan of the Municipal Health Department, supervised the minor surgical operations who was always present to guide the CONSOM Faculty and student nurses. Also there to assist were members of the Barangay Council of Ucab headed by Barangay Captain Tony Pesase, BHS, and BFTS
The free circumcision, haircut and mental awreness activity with the theme “We Rise by Lifting Others” was a project by the Office of Congressman Eric Go Yap and the Liga ng mga Barangay Itogon, Benguet
