Baguio Central University (BCU) celebrated the academic achievements of its students during the 29th Philippine Statistics Quiz Bee College Elimination Round held on October 25, 2025, at the university’s Main Building in Baguio City. Ms. Alexa G. Galamote, a first-year Bachelor of Science in Midwifery (BSM) student, secured first place, while Ms. Princess Mae S. Lavarias of Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) 1A earned third place. Their accomplishments highlighted their knowledge of statistical concepts and the importance of analytical and quantitative skills in academic and professional development.
The competition provided an opportunity for students to demonstrate their understanding of statistics, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities. Under the mentorship of Sir Emerson C. Soriano, LPT, both students participated in the academic challenge and achieved commendable results. Their placements reflected their preparation and engagement in a competition that emphasizes the application of statistical knowledge and the interpretation of data.
The achievements of Ms. Galamote and Ms. Lavarias marked a notable accomplishment for BCU in the college elimination round. Their performance highlighted the value of academic preparation, perseverance, and effective mentorship in developing students’ competencies. Beyond the competition, statistical literacy remains essential in research, evidence-based decision-making, and professional practice, particularly in healthcare fields where interpreting data can contribute to informed decisions and improved outcomes.

Through the accomplishments of Ms. Galamote and Ms. Lavarias, Baguio Central University continues to recognize the importance of student participation in academic competitions and the development of analytical skills.
