Baguio Central University (BCU), through its College of Business Administration’s Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (BSCS) program, participated in the two-day DTC Partner Center Managers’ Training held on September 29–30, 2026, at the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Post Office Loop, Upper Session Road, Baguio City.
The university was represented by eight BSCS students and two instructors, Jeff C. Pais and Rouxvick T. Dictag, joining representatives from partner institutions across the region, including the Baguio City local government, city library staff, and other local government units, including delegates from Ifugao.
Facilitated by DICT resource speaker Engineer Frederick Gabriel Exibia, the training aimed to strengthen the capacity of Digital Transformation Center (DTC) partner institutions to manage digital spaces, protect information, and use emerging technologies responsibly in public service and education.
The first day focused on cybersecurity and cyber hygiene, covering online safety, password management, data privacy, and common digital threats. Participants also discussed the Data Privacy Act of 2012, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding personal information and complying with data protection requirements.
On the second day, discussions continued on cybersecurity and cyber hygiene before shifting to artificial intelligence (AI) literacy. Participants explored basic AI concepts, its applications in everyday work and public services, and the importance of responsible use. A hands-on Google Workspace workshop also provided practical experience in digital collaboration, communication, and document management, reinforcing the need for secure and lawful data handling in online environments.
Through lectures, discussions, icebreakers, and practical exercises, the training encouraged participants from the academic, government, and community sectors to exchange insights on the challenges and opportunities of digital transformation. For BCU’s BSCS students, the activity provided an opportunity to learn alongside professionals and public servants and apply classroom knowledge to real-world settings.
The university’s participation underscores the importance of developing digital competence, cybersecurity awareness, data privacy, and responsible technology use. Through initiatives such as this, BCU continues to support learning opportunities that connect academic preparation with practical digital skills for more secure, connected, and capable communities.
