Baguio Central University College of Nursing and School of Midwifery (CNSM), conducted a community outreach program on February 6, 2026, at Gaswiling Integrated School in Kapangan, Benguet, benefiting 122 learners and some parents. Implemented in partnership with the Philippine Science High School–Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) Campus, through Dr. Geraldine S. Orasing, the initiative provided educational materials, health education, additional donations, and recreational activities. The program reflected BCU’s commitment to community engagement by bringing educational and health-related support closer to families and strengthening collaboration with partner institutions and local communities.

The outreach activities addressed several community needs through the distribution of school supplies, health education, teaching on basic life support during the morning sessions, and recreational activities designed to encourage participation and interaction among beneficiaries in the afternoon. Additional donations supplemented the assistance provided during the program. By combining educational support with health awareness and community engagement, the initiative created opportunities for learners and parents to access useful resources while participating in activities that promoted well-being and social connection.

The program was made possible through the collaboration of the Philippine Science High School–CAR Campus, BCU administrators, university personnel, student volunteers, community partners, and individual donors. Special recognition was extended to Sir Ryan Sibayan and Sir Ramil Sibayan, along with the personnel of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 15 (RMFB-15) Technical Support Company: PSMS Noli Nehyeban, PCpl Elmer Batani, PCpl Rolando Mores, Pat. Hex Duma-ang, Pat. Romnick Sacla, and Pat. Nica Narcizo, for their support. BCU also acknowledged the contributions of its University Community Extension Coordinator, Ms. Arlene Mintas; CNSM Dean Dr. Gina L. Casi; SGO adviser Mr. Allan P. Guinanghan and faculty members Ms. Imelda Manuel, Ms. Eleanor B. Pablo, and Ms. Arlene B. Pal-a; student government officers led by Ms. Angelica N. Samson; fourth-year student volunteers; and BSN 2A–Group 2. Individual sponsors provided additional donations, while Mr. Castro and Mrs. Flordeliza Cosisi accommodated the participating group.

The outreach program documented direct assistance to 122 learners and parents through educational supplies, health education, donations, and recreational engagement. The active participation of the Gaswiling community and the contributions of partner institutions, volunteers, and sponsors demonstrated the value of coordinated community extension efforts. While further long-term outcomes, such as improvements in educational performance or health indicators, were not reported, the completed activities provided immediate support to beneficiaries and strengthened cooperation between BCU and its community partners.

The initiative aligns primarily with Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education) through the distribution of school supplies and support for learners’ educational needs. It also contributes to SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) through the delivery of health education sessions, while SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) is reflected in the collaboration among BCU, the Philippine Science High School–CAR Campus, community stakeholders, volunteers, and donors. In addition, SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities) is relevant to the provision of educational resources and community assistance to learners and families, helping address barriers to access to essential support. Through this outreach initiative, BCU demonstrated how university-led community extension can connect educational support, health awareness, volunteerism, and institutional partnerships in service of local development.
