Baguio Central University (BCU) demonstrated its commitment to student welfare through its Philippine Nurses Licensure Examination (PNLE) Board Operations held on November 4–5, 2025. As nursing graduates prepared to take one of the most important examinations in their professional journey, selected faculty members were assigned to different testing centers to provide assistance, encouragement, and moral support. Their presence served as a reminder that the university’s support extends beyond the classroom and into the crucial moments of its students’ professional development.
The Board Operations initiative highlighted the dedication of BCU’s nursing faculty, who made the effort to wake up early and be present at the testing centers to support the examinees. The students were deeply touched by their instructors’ willingness to sacrifice their time and extend personal encouragement during this significant milestone. Beyond academic instruction, the faculty members’ presence offered reassurance and demonstrated the value of compassion, mentorship, and solidarity in the nursing profession.
The faculty members who participated in the Board Operations were Mr. Froilan T. Adaci, RN, MAN; Ms. Arlene B. Pal-a, RN, MNE; Ms. Olea P. Romero, RN, MNE; Ms. Imelda B. Manuel, RN, RM, MAN; Mr. Emerson C. Soriano, LPT; Ms. Anne Lorraine C. Rivera, RN, Mr. Marcial S. Awat, Ms. Elizabeth C. Contero, RN, MAN; Mr. Allan P. Guinanghan, RN; Dr. Priscilla B. Dela Cruz, RN; Mr. Hilario A. Sanglay, RN, MAN; Mr. Kristian Karl Kiw-is RN, MNE; Ms. Karen G. Dorado, RN, MNE; and Dean Dr. Gina L. Casi, RN. Assigned to different testing centers, they represented BCU’s continued support for its nursing graduates as they faced the challenges of the licensure examination. Their involvement reflected the important role educators play not only in developing students’ knowledge and clinical competencies but also in encouraging confidence and perseverance.
Through this initiative, BCU emphasized that nursing education involves more than classroom learning and clinical preparation. It also encompasses mentorship, emotional encouragement, and a shared commitment to students’ success. The Board Operations provided an opportunity for faculty members to demonstrate these values through their direct presence and support during the examination period. Their efforts stand as an example of the university community’s role in accompanying future nurses as they transition from academic training to professional practice.
The initiative aligns with United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 4: Quality Education, as faculty mentorship and student support contribute to an educational environment that promotes learning, development, and successful transitions into professional practice. It also supports SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being, by helping prepare future nursing professionals who will contribute to the healthcare workforce, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, by highlighting collaboration between faculty members and students in pursuing shared educational and professional goals.
