BCU–CBA Faculty Plan Academic Activities and Instructional Improvements for SY 2025–2026

by: Dr. Cherrie Mae M. Manuel

Baguio Central University’s College of Business Administration (CBA) held its monthly faculty meeting on June 20, 2025, at the sixth-floor CBA Faculty Room in Baguio City. Led by CBA Dean Dr. Cherrie Mae M. Manuel, the meeting focused on preparations for School Year 2025–2026, faculty development, accreditation compliance, and research.

Present were Ms. Khea Joy H. Botes, Mr. Junik Cris A. Calahi, Dr. Ma. Remedios O. Laroco, Dr. Jolly B. Mariacos, and Ms. Marga L. Taganas.

The faculty reviewed the University calendar and Supreme Student Council schedule to help prevent overlapping activities and allow early venue reservations. Proposed college activities included a seminar-workshop on innovative teaching strategies, an orientation for freshmen and transferees, student seminars, and student government activities.

Dr. Manuel emphasized that future seminars should draw on findings from student and faculty research. This approach would help the College translate research outputs into learning activities that address identified needs. Ms. Taganas was tasked with exploring partnership opportunities with the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas. Ms. Botes, in coordination with Dr. Mariacos, was also assigned to consult barangay officials about their development priorities to identify possible outreach activities.

For PACUCOA compliance, the meeting emphasized discussing program educational objectives during orientations and the first day of classes. Faculty members also explored stakeholder consultation in syllabi preparation and were encouraged to use Google Classroom to distribute syllabi and learning materials.

Dr. Manuel oriented the faculty on updates to the simulation room and computer laboratory, including guidelines for their use, requested equipment, and software improvements.

The faculty discussed preparing the tracer study and research on students’ technological readiness for presentation at the anticipated University Research Colloquium. A community needs assessment in Loakan, Itogon, was identified as another proposed research undertaking.

Responsibilities were assigned for preparing manuals covering the computer laboratory, simulation room, practicum, research, feasibility studies, and business planning. Faculty members were also encouraged to seek conferences where student and faculty research could be presented.

The meeting clarified responsibilities for academic planning, faculty development, research, and instructional documentation. Follow-up work included refining the activity calendar, preparing operational manuals, and coordinating proposed partnerships and community consultations.

These preparations support SDG 4: Quality Education through their emphasis on faculty training, research-informed learning activities, accessible instructional materials, and improved learning facilities.
