The Baguio Central University-College of Criminal Justice Education welcomed students for the Second Semester of Academic Year 2025–2026 with its Students’ Orientation and Acculturation program held on January 23, 2026, at the BCU Magsaysay Gym. The event aimed to prepare students for a productive semester by emphasizing academic excellence, discipline, and professionalism.

The program began with registration and attendance facilitated by Student Government Organization (SGO) Officers, followed by the Entrance of Colors led by the Color Guards Club. The Invocation, National Anthem, and BCU Hymn set a formal tone, accompanied by an audiovisual presentation that highlighted the university’s values, mission, and commitment to academic success.

A key segment of the program was the Welcome Remarks delivered by Dean Beca May Pidlao-Palitayan, MSCJSC, who encouraged students to uphold BCU values-Libertad, Justitia, Veritas and Equitas, follow college policies, and demonstrate discipline, integrity, and professionalism as essential qualities of future criminal justice professionals. “In a world where output is the evidence of success, students are encouraged to comply before complaining,” Dean Pidlao-Palitayan said.

The program featured an entertainment number by the Fungakan Dance Troupe, adding energy and cultural flair. Students also enjoyed a special performance by John Patrick Parcia and Franz Yhian P. Gawec, showcasing student creativity and talent within the CCJE community.

Dean Pidlao-Palitayan introduced CCJE faculty members and staff, allowing students to familiarize themselves with the educators who will guide them throughout the semester. Faculty members then conducted a discussion on college rules and regulations, covering academic policies, proper conduct, and expectations inside and outside the university.

The orientation concluded with Closing Remarks from SGO Adviser Ms. Laura Stephanie E. Gulla, who thanked participants and reminded students that the orientation serves as a guide in building a disciplined, responsible, and successful semester.

The Students’ Orientation and Acculturation successfully reinforced the goals of CCJE by promoting academic awareness, institutional values, and shared responsibility, preparing students for a productive and meaningful second semester. The initiative aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 4: Quality Education, by fostering holistic learning and student development, and SDG 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions, by promoting responsibility, discipline, and respect for rules among future criminal justice professionals.
