In a spirited display of intellect and teamwork, three first-year students from the College of Hospitality Management (CHTM) proudly represented their College in the Philippine Statistics Quiz Bee elimination round held on October 12, 2026, from 8:00am to 1:30pm at Margarita J. Hall.
The academic competition brought together the brightest minds from various colleges across the campus to test their knowledge in statistics, data analysis, and logical reasoning; a challenging field that demands both speed and accuracy.
After several intense rounds of easy, average, and difficult questions, the results were as follows:
1st place – College of Business Administration (CBA)
2nd place – College of Teacher Education and Liberal Arts (CTELA)
3rd place – Tie between College of Engineering (COE) and College of Hospitality and Tourism Management (CHTM)
Representing CHTM with pride and composure were first-year students:
- Mr. France Solinen
- Ms. Laycon Shoker
- Mr. Jormyl Areglo
Despite being newcomers to the college academic arena, the trio showed remarkable confidence and sportsmanship as they went head-to-head with other first-year students from other colleges. For Solinen, Shoker, and Areglo, this quiz bee marked their first academic challenge exposure at the collegiate level; a significant milestone in their journey as BCU-CHTM students.
Their podium finish in a tie for third place is no small feat. It supports SDG 4: Quality Education by reflecting not only their quick grasp of statistical concepts but also their dedication during days of review and preparation, and SDG 17: Partnership for the Goals through collaboration among Government Agencies and the internal organization.More than the medals, this experience has ignited their passion for academic excellence beyond classroom.
Congratulations, Team CHTM! Your BCU-CHTM is proud of you!
