April 10–11, 2026 | University of the Philippines Diliman, Quezon City
Baguio Central University (BCU) Geodetic Engineering students participated in the National Geodetic Engineering Summit (NatGES) 2026 and Geodetic Engineering Student Conference (GESC) on April 10–11, 2026, at the University of the Philippines Diliman in Quezon City. Hosted by the UP GE Club, the event brought together Geodetic Engineering students from different institutions for academic learning, professional development, collaboration, and engagement with the broader Geodetic Engineering community.
The summit aimed to broaden students’ knowledge of current advancements and emerging trends in Geodetic Engineering while promoting leadership, professional growth, and active participation. Through discussions, presentations, competitions, and other conference activities, participants gained opportunities to explore developments in the profession, exchange ideas, and connect with fellow students and professionals.
BCU was represented in several competitions and academic activities throughout the summit. Hudster L. Dati and Mirafe Rhoze A. De Castro participated in the GE Consortium, while Dhan O. Dulce, Esceljoy P. Guilanda, and Marc Zedric F. Mauricio represented the university in the “GE Ka Na Ba?” Quiz Show. In the Research Colloquium, Meichee B. Ababa-en, Shelly Mae A. Killase, and Judith S. Mantias presented their participation, while Job G. Bernardino represented BCU in the Surveylympics: Total Station Set-up. The participating students were guided by their coach, Engr. Criselda S. Felix.
These activities provided opportunities for students to demonstrate their knowledge, apply their skills, and engage in healthy academic competition with participants from other institutions. Their involvement also encouraged critical thinking, technical competence, research engagement, and continued learning in the field of Geodetic Engineering.
Beyond the academic competitions, the summit provided a platform for strengthening collaboration and building connections among students, professionals, and stakeholders. The event also featured a Social Night, which offered participants an opportunity to interact in a more relaxed setting, foster camaraderie, and strengthen relationships within the Geodetic Engineering community.
BCU’s participation in NatGES 2026 and GESC highlighted the importance of academic engagement and professional exposure in preparing future Geodetic Engineers. Through the various activities, the student delegates gained meaningful experiences that supported their academic development, encouraged active participation, and strengthened their connection with the wider professional community.
The university’s participation supports Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education) by encouraging continuous learning, knowledge-sharing, and the development of technical and research skills. Through academic competitions, research activities, and professional interactions, students had opportunities to apply their learning, explore emerging developments in their field, and strengthen competencies relevant to their future careers.
