The College of Business Administration (CBA) successfully conducted its 2nd Semester Student Orientation on January 13, 2026. The activity was organized to welcome students and help them prepare for the new and meaningful academic term, and shared sense of purpose among the CBA community.
The program officially opened with a welcoming remark delivered by Dr. Cherrie Mae M. Manuel. In her message, she warmly welcomes the students and highlighted the importance of being informed, responsible, and active throughout the semester. She also took the opportunity to introduce the CBA instructors and staff, allowing students to become familiar with the people who will guide and support them during their studies.
Following the opening part of the program, Ms. Marga L. Taganas led an interactive and engaging session with the students. She encouraged active participation by conducting an educational fill-in-the-blank game focused on the CBA Vision and Mission, and a prize was given to those who answerers correctly, making the learning experience fun and meaningful. After the activity Ms. Taganas continued by explaining the CBA core values as well as the VMGO’s of the college. She also discussed the program offered, helping students better understand their chosen fields and academic pathways. In addition, she presented the college’s industry linkages, highlighting partnerships with different organizations that support student training, internship, and future employment. These linkages were emphasized as important opportunities that help students gain real-world experience and prepare for professional practice.
The program continued with Ms. Khea Joy Botes, who showcased the CBA accomplishments for AY 2024-2025 and AY 2025-2026 through a video compilation. The video highlighted the college’s academic activities, student achievements, and major events. This presentation allowed students to see the progress of the college and feel proud of being part of the CBA community. After presenting, Ms. Marga Taganas prepared a short and uplifting warm-up to awaken the spirit of the students and faculty through dancing.
After this, Dr. Jolly B. Mariacos presented the facilities laboratories and equipment to the students. She then explained how it supports learning, skills development and hands-on experience. The discussion helped students understand the importance of properly using, and taking of the college resources provided their education. For the detailed discussion on proper uniform guidelines, classroom etiquette and school policies, it was discussed by Mr. Junik A. Calahi. He reminded students about the importance of discipline, respect, and professionalism.
The program further continued with the introduction of the University Research Director, Dr. Michael T. Sebullen. In his talk, he discussed the importance of research in higher education, emphasizing its role in developing critical thinking, problem-solving, and academic integrity among students. Dr. Sebullen also explained the ethics of research, reminding students to practice honesty, proper citation, and respect for original work. In addition, he introduces Turnitin, the plagiarism checking tool used by the university. He explained how the system helps ensure originality in the students’ papers.
An open forum was held where students were given the opportunity to raise questions, concerns, and clarifications. The program formally concluded with closing remarks delivered by Dr. Cherrie Mae M. Manuel. In her message, she thanked the faculty members and students for their active participation and cooperation throughout the orientation. She encouraged the students to apply what they learned, stay committed to their studies, and uphold the values of the College of Business Administration as they move forward in the semester.
