The Baguio Central University – Geodetic Engineering Student Association (BCU-GESA) participated in the Bridge Building Competition organized by the Junior Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers (JPICE) Student Chapter on March 12, 2026, at the Function Hall, BCU Main Campus.
Carrying the theme “Strength in Unity: Supporting the Weight of Our Future, One Member at a Time,” the competition challenged future engineers to apply their knowledge, creativity, and problem-solving skills in designing and constructing bridges. The activity provided an opportunity for engineering students to put their technical understanding into practice while recognizing the importance of collaboration in addressing engineering challenges.
BCU-GESA’s participation reflected the value of engaging in academic and co-curricular activities that promote learning beyond the classroom. The competition also highlighted how teamwork, innovation, and shared responsibility contribute to the development of future engineering professionals.
Through activities such as this, BCU-GESA continues to support opportunities that encourage students to broaden their knowledge, strengthen their skills, and connect with fellow engineering students.
The event supports SDG 4: Quality Education — Target 4.4. This target focuses on increasing the number of youth and adults with relevant skills, including technical and vocational skills, for employment and entrepreneurship. The Bridge Building Competition supported this goal by providing an opportunity for engineering students to apply technical knowledge, develop problem-solving abilities, and strengthen collaborative skills relevant to their future profession.
